Pension in the Federation of BiH

Bosnia & Herzegovina has no single pension law: the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and Republika Srpska each set their own pension system, and the Brčko District has neither one of its own nor automatic membership in either. This section covers the FBiH pension system only, under the Federation’s own Pension and Disability Insurance Act — if you are (or will be) insured in Republika Srpska or in Brčko, none of this applies to you. See the Entities page for how the three structures fit together.

This section covers the Federation of BiH only

BiH has no single pension law: the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and Republika Srpska each set their own pension system, and the Brčko District has neither one of its own nor automatic membership in either — a Brčko resident chooses the FBiH or the RS fund. Everything on this page and the pages that follow describes the FBiH system only, under the Federation’s own Pension and Disability Insurance Act. If you are insured in RS or in Brčko, none of this applies to you — see the Entities page for how the three structures fit together.

What the pension is made of

An FBiH old-age pension is your personal points — which depend on your earnings and years of pension service — multiplied by the general point, currently 26,34 KM per point (od 1. januara 2026.). The calculation page explains the formula in full, and why no KM figure follows for the minimum or maximum pension here.
