NetoPlata is a gross-to-net salary calculator for Bosnia & Herzegovina — built for both entities. It is for anyone working in BiH, or thinking of moving there, who wants to see before signing a contract how much of a gross salary actually reaches their account. Because BiH is not one tax system, the honest answer depends on the entity, and that is exactly what this tool is designed to make clear.

What the calculator does

You pick an entity, enter a monthly gross and your household, and the calculator returns your take-home net, an itemised breakdown of contributions and income tax, the personal allowance applied, and the total cost to the employer. It runs the same two-entity engine the rest of the site documents — no rounding shortcuts and no single “BiH average” standing in for a real calculation. Everything the calculator shows is explained in plain language on the contributions, income-tax and entities pages.

The two-entity methodology

Bosnia & Herzegovina sets income tax and social contributions at the entity level, so the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska have genuinely different rates, personal allowances and contribution structures — and the Brčko District follows the fund a worker is registered with. Rather than blur these into one figure, NetoPlata treats FBiH and RS as separate calculator arms, each computed from that entity’s own rules: the Federation’s coefficient-based allowance and split employee/employer contributions, and RS’s fixed allowance and gross-gross model. Where the law is genuinely uncertain, we hedge rather than guess.

Where the numbers come from

Every rate and amount is traced to a primary source: the official gazettes Službene novine Federacije BiH and Službeni glasnik Republike Srpske, and the tax authorities Porezna uprava FBiH and Poreska uprava RS. Contextual statistics, such as average earnings, come from the BiH statistics agency and are never fed into the net calculation. When a value rests only on a secondary summary rather than a quoted statute, we mark it as partial and say so on the page.

Honest about status

Every value on the site is taken from a named primary source and cross-checked by the build. We know two limits and we name them: if a rule changed recently it may not be reflected here yet, and none of these values has been through our final sign-off. So the figures here must not be used for a real tax, payroll or contract decision — for the binding amount, ask your employer or the tax authority. That constraint is deliberate: for a subject where a wrong number has real consequences, we would rather say plainly how far we have got than guess.
