Minimum wage
The minimum wage differs by entity: FBiH sets a single monthly net amount, while RS has a graduated (tiered) net minimum by education level. The figures shown are those in force for 2026.

Bosnia & Herzegovina has no single, country-wide minimum wage. Each entity sets its own for 2026, and it is stated as a net monthly amount — the figure that actually reaches the worker’s account, not a gross. The two entities do not just use different numbers; they use a different shape of minimum, which is the interesting part.
FBiH: a single net floor
The Federation sets one flat net minimum for everyone: 1.027 KM per month for the whole of 2026 (Odluka o najnižoj plaći, Službene novine FBiH br. 100/25). It does not vary by qualification or sector — one number, one floor. When our engine grosses this net up through the FBiH contribution and tax formula, it reproduces the published amount to the fening, which is a useful check that the whole Federation model is wired correctly.
RS: graduated by qualification
Republika Srpska takes a different route for 2026: the net minimum rises with the level of education a job requires (Odluka, Službeni glasnik RS br. 115/25). There are five tiers, from unskilled work up to a university degree.
| Required qualification (RS) | Net minimum / month |
|---|---|
| No qualification / unskilled (NK) | 1.000 KM |
| Secondary education, three-year | 1.050 KM |
| Secondary education, four-year | 1.100 KM |
| Higher education (VŠS) | 1.350 KM |
| University degree (VSS) | 1.450 KM |
At the entry tier, RS’s unskilled minimum and the Federation’s single floor sit close together; higher up the RS ladder the gap widens sharply. If you are comparing an offer across the entities, the qualification a role is classified under matters in RS in a way it simply does not in FBiH.
Why we show only net amounts
Some secondary tables float a matching gross column for each RS tier, but those gross figures do not reproduce under the verified gross-to-net formula — so we do not publish them. Only the statutory net minimums above are recorded as values; the calculator itself is authoritative on how a given gross converts to net and back, and the government’s grossing method for the minimum is one of the questions we carry to sign-off.
A floor, not a calculation
The minimum wage sets the lowest lawful pay; it is not how your own salary is computed. To see what any gross leaves you after contributions and tax, use the calculator, and read how the two systems differ on the entities page. All amounts here come from the entity gazettes and are cited where they appear — not for official use.
